Vergers from middle and north Georgia volunteered to host the September 13, 2014 Hearts to Serve Community Ministry Conference at St. Bede's. This conference was hosted by the Community Ministries Collaborative (CMC) to share ideas to help empower and effectively serve our communities through advocacy, funding and reflection. The featured speaker was our own Bishop Rob Wright.
Vergers played a vital role in the success of the conference by handling registration, helping registrants find their places, keeping the conference on schedule and being of assistance whenever needed.
Vicky Partin, Chair of the Event and of the CMC said that the conference wouldn't have run so smoothly without the help of the Vergers. “I was just impressed by how they showed up at the doors as quiet monitors. And I never worried one bit about registration.”
Lois Shingler, the lead representative from the host parish said “The Vergers were wonderful! They helped make it look like everything was happening without a hitch.” It is good to know how important Vergers are in the life of our Diocese.
